VPLU: A virtual experience for

Pacific Lutheran students

Communication Capstone Project, May 2019

Welcome! My name is Grace Amsden. I'm a Communication major at the Pacific Lutheran University in Parkland, Washington. This website is a creation for my capstone project for my spring 2019 graduation. For this project, I've created a vision and proposal for a virtual online experience for PLU students called "VPLU."

My work is created from my vision for a virtual world in which PLU students can explore, chat with other students, and learn more about the campus and opportunities available to them. VPLU is designed to resemble spaces from the Anderson University Center, a building on campus offering myriad services to students, including (but not limited to) campus dining, tabling events, lounge spaces, and student media offices.

I was largely inspired to create this project based on my own involvement in virtual online worlds. For instance, I developed a passion for Disney's Virtual Magic Kingdom game, created for the 50th anniversary of Disneyland. Users created a virtual character, who could explore a variety of rooms designed after the Disney parks. Each virtual world has a unique theme and activities.

To learn about my proposal for VPLU, simply use the menu bar at the top of the screen, and scroll over the "more" tab to access additional pages. Thanks for stopping by... and welcome to VPLU!
